I'm revamping Azucena's wardrobe for KCRF this year. The only major change will be the new bodice. I'm making a closed-front bodice, which means I'll have to have someone lace me up every morning when I get to site. My skirts, chemises, and bloomers will stay the same (they all still fit), so I'm sticking with the same color palette. I'm mainly doing research on Spanish design details like the use of trims, embroidery designs, and jewelry. I'm not fooling myself into thinking I'm going to be within spitting distance of historical accuracy, but I'd like to make an attempt at homage at the least.
Doing the online research, though, means that I run up against all sorts of temptations (some of which are appropriate for the costume, some which aren't). Like this, this, and pretty much every piece of jewelry found on this page. Gorgeous stuff. I especially love the drippy earrings.
In a moment of serendipity, Fabulon posted this today. ( Cut for YouTube clip )
