Well.

I learned this morning that I need to re-do all the room assignments for the people staying in the dorms. This is good news and maybe some bad news. I'm still waiting for clarification to see if it's Bad Bad News or just Sort Of Mildly Annoying Bad News. Oh, did I mention our first participants arrive tomorrow? So I have 24 hours to get clarification from Student Housing (in itself a Herculean task) and re-do the room assignments.

The exterminators are spraying the bees. Like, right now spraying the bees. I had this conversation with the exterminator:
EXT: "Well, they're getting pretty angry."
MOI: "They probably don't like being poisoned."
EXT: "Nope, they sure don't. Can't say I blame them."
MOI: "Serves them right for setting up house in Wescoe. Wescoe poisons everyone."

He must not be a KU F/O employee because he didn't get the joke.

Now I have a hive of angry, doomed bees buzzing in the wall next to my office. Earlier, there was a lot of rapid pounding in the conference room (which contains the wall where the hive is located). I have no idea what that was about. I was a little worried that the exterminator was trapped in there with the bees, but I didn't hear any yelling. I am not going to be the one to open that conference room door. The secretary who went in there earlier said you could almost feel the humming, they where buzzing so loud.

shudder

The thought of thousands of agitated and dying bees (did you know a small hive contains 60,000 bees?) just one shoddily-built wall away from me is making it very difficult for me to concentrate on the task at hand.

Update: I took the opportunity to walk to Jaybowl since I got word that the acrylic trophies were done. The new manager wasn't sure about the formatting of the text and images on the trophies and they're just slightly different than the previous years. So I came back, got two old trophies and carried them back to Jaybowl. I carried the permanent trophies to the Union on the previous trip of the day, so my shoulders now hate me. A lot. And I'm sweaty. I love how the Union is slightly uphill both ways from Wescoe.
