This morning I lit a candle and incense for Georgia.
My eyes are feeling better. Maybe the aching really was just from the scratch and the injury was a lot worse than I thought? And my wrist is much improved, finally! It still gets a little ouchy after a while, but that's fine. It encourages breaks. Provided things go okay today I plan to start answering the questions y'all gave me tomorrow.
Yesterday I took my life into my hands and finished putting together my bed by myself. And I did it! I got all four brace bars up with the curtains without dropping anything! I was shaking and sweating by the time I finished, but they're up and my bed looks so so so beautiful again. I'd decided years ago that next time I had to dismantle my bed I wouldn't string the tassels between the curtains. I wanted them to close all the way so I could completely block the outside world if I wanted. I love the effect but I gotta figure a way to hang the tassels now. I have a couple ideas but those will all have to wait until next week because I am fucking exhausted today and we all know what happens when I push myself.
I did sleep for six consecutive hours, which is a rare delight. Not sure if it was the exertion or that my sleeping area is now darker or just the psychological relief of having my beloved bed back together. I'm sure it's not heralding a trend or anything--I've never been a quality sleeper and I don't anticipate that changing at this point in my life--but it sure was nice to not see 2, 3, or 4 am today!
Don't think I've mentioned yet I broke out my Tarot book and cards on New Year's Day and I'm working my way through it. So far I'm just focusing on one card a day but if I can ever get to a photocopy machine I'm gonna make flashcards. I'm a champion at rote memorization and flashcards are hands-down my best/fave technique for remembering. I could easily get the basic meanings of each card in the deck down in a couple weeks, tops. Even the making of them would be fun! The idea of popping down to Kinko's for copies and index cards is such a lovely daydream.
