Where is my mind
Feb. 23rd, 2011 08:21 amI am not an absent-minded person. This week I've been trying to focus on the now, as I mentioned in a post a few days ago. But recently, I've done some spectacularly stupid things that can only be attributed to inattention. I'm not inattentive while I'm doing them. I'm just...thinking wrong. Or something. Just today I've already pulled two dumb stunts.
This morning, I made up the henna for this weekend's hair coloring session with
nottygypsy. Mixed it all up, put it in the separate containers, wrote our names on the lids (we use different types of henna), put them in the freezer and left for work. But I wasn't supposed to put them in the freezer. I was supposed to put them in the upstairs bathroom, where it's warm. Of course, I didn't realize this until I was already at work. I've left a message and an email with
mckitterick, in hopes that he wakes up and listens to/reads them very soon. If the henna freezes, it's ruined, and there's twenty bucks down the toilet.
After I made my coffee, I refilled the electric kettle with water from the fountain to pour into my Brita pitcher (the Brita won't fit under the flow of the water fountain). I got back to my office, started on work email, and about ten minutes later I heard the water boiling. I'd put the kettle on to boil instead of pouring it in the Brita pitcher.
This is annoying and depressing and frightening. Sing it, Mr. Black.
